Q&A With Marielle Waterman
Q: What do you love most about working at Assent?
A: When people ask me what I love the most about working at Assent, the very first thing that stands out in my mind is the people. It’s absolutely amazing that I get to work with some of the brightest minds in our industry from across the globe. And while they’re dedicated to helping solve some of the toughest concerns in our society around sustainability and the supply chain, each Assentee is also equally dedicated to motivating and inspiring their colleagues to be the absolute best that they can be. That is one thing that I feel makes Assent a truly special place to be.
Q: How does Assent work toward diversity and inclusion?
A: I believe in the world that we live in today, we cannot afford — as leaders in tech, but especially tech sales — for diversity to be an afterthought as part of the hiring process, if you’re looking to be successful. Diversity in and of itself is such a critical piece in what we as sales leaders continually say we want to build in our organizations and happy sales teams. And I feel it boils down to really four things that we’re looking to build: a truly world-class, high-performing, electric, and fun organizational and sales team culture.
That’s why upon arriving at Assent, I was able to recognize that diversity was not just a buzzword, but something that’s actually ingrained in the company and sales cultures. You’ll notice that at Assent we believe, but also demonstrate, that in order for us to effectively help our customers see deeper, work smarter, grow better, and solve some of the most complex issues of our time, that starts with having a diverse workforce. And in the ways that we’re looking to grow as an organization, diversity will definitely be essential to our continued success in the rocket ship that we’re looking to build.
Q: What brought you to Assent?
A: After looking into what Assent does and speaking with some Assentees, I quickly learned three things that helped me make my decision to join Assent.

- Very strong leadership that guides our teams towards making a considerable impact in the world.
- A mission and values were very much in line with my own.
Those key facts made it immediately clear Assent was the right fit for me!
Q: How do you feel Assent supports women in tech?
A: I feel Assent demonstrates support for women in tech in really great ways that have been critical to our success:
We ensure that we include women in all facets of the hiring process, where possible. If you were to look across our organization, you’ll notice we have many women in management and leadership roles in all areas of our business. Lastly, we’re actively looking for opportunities to include our female Assentees in meaningful ways where their voices are amplified, their contribution and perspectives are valued, and women are definitely heard at Assent.
Q: What opportunities for growth exist at Assent?
A: As a growing company the opportunities for growth in our organization are virtually endless.
You may come from a compliance background already or specialize in the areas we are actively looking to expand such as marketing, sales, product, engineering, or customer success.
