China’s Electronics Standardization Institute (CESI) has created a draft translation of the China Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Conformity Assessment requirements. The requirements, also known as the voluntary national standard (GB/T 37876-2019), came into effect on March 1, 2020. This translation has been supported by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Comments are being accepted until May 18, 2020.

These requirements were put into place, in part, to support RoHS 2 compliance and are applicable to the 12 categories included in the catalog released in 2018. They outline the two paths for conducting conformity assessments against China RoHS 2: self-assessment using IEC/ISO 63000, or voluntary certification through approval from notified bodies following documentation submission and manufacturing facility audits.

The Assent Compliance Platform helps companies streamline and refresh the collection of supply chain data to support product compliance. To learn more about Assent’s supply chain data management solution, book a RoHS compliance demonstration.
