Assent Compliance was recognized this morning with an Employer Excellence Award from Hire Immigrants Ottawa.
The 2018 Employer Excellence Awards were presented at the Employer Council of Champions Summit at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, ON, to companies that recruit immigrant employees, encourage success and promote diversity in the workplace. Assent was proud to receive the award alongside other top tier Ottawa employers RealDecoy, RBC Royal Bank and Shopify.
“In the past nine years, in my capacity in CEO roles in Ottawa, I have had the privilege and opportunity to recruit many folks who are new to Canada and getting their first Canadian work experience,” said Assent’s CEO, Andrew Waitman. “My experience has been that they, like all fantastic employees, are extremely talented, driven and appreciative of the opportunity to gain meaningful roles and contribute to the success of our company. Many of the employees we hired have seen promotions and advancements in their roles quickly due to their commitment, capability and collaboration within their teams.”
Assent recruits skilled immigrants who are already in Canada, or who are arriving in the near future, through several local organizations and Assent’s employee referral program. As a global company, hiring skilled, bilingual or multilingual immigrants has been an integral part of Assent’s success.
“Cultural diversity is not just a goal,” Waitman said. “It’s an expectation of a normal, rich, anticipated future.”
