At Assent, we’re committed to helping you navigate the complexities of supply chain sustainability, regulatory compliance, and risk management. Let’s dive into the most significant innovations we introduced this past quarter to help you avoid costly surprises and give you more time back with enhanced supply chain visibility.
What’s New This Quarter?
1. Substances of Concern Solution Release
Sustainability regulations are evolving, and staying informed about the materials and chemicals in your supply chain has never been more critical. Substances of concern (SOCs) represent a broader set of substances than those on the REACH Regulation’s Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHCs). They include materials that may have significant environmental or health impacts throughout their entire life cycle, beyond toxicity alone. Referenced in various legislation with different definitions, SOCs currently require reporting but are not yet restricted.
Assent’s Substances of Concern solution is available as of December 2024. This solution empowers manufacturers to:
- Identify and assess substances of concern in their supply chains
- Support compliance requirements under key sustainability regulations such as:
- Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)
- Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR)
- Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)
When combined with our EU REACH SVHC solution and/or EU Persistent Organic Pollutants solution, this solution provides comprehensive data to streamline compliance, minimize risks, and drive sustainable product development.
What’s In It for You?
- Enhanced Compliance: Simplifies adherence to leading EU sustainability regulations
- Streamlined Reporting: Centralizes data for effortless reporting under frameworks like the CSRD
- Proactive Risk Management: Identifies SOCs in products to reduce regulatory risks and maintain market access

With requirements around PFAS, TSCA, CSRD, and CBAM adding complexity to supply chain sustainability management, suppliers face mounting challenges in maintaining compliance and meeting customer requests. Assent’s new platform gives suppliers a user-friendly solution to manage and share data efficiently, closing compliance gaps and creating stronger customer relationships.
Key platform benefits include:
- High-quality data at scale: Centralized and reliable data to support compliance efforts

Other Exciting Updates
- REACH Updates: We’ve updated our solution to include a new substance, triphenyl phosphate, which was added to the REACH Candidate List on November 7, 2024. This update ensures ongoing alignment with EU chemical regulations.
- Enhanced Metal Sourcing Solution: To address expanded material-based sanctions against Russia, we’ve extended our Steel Material Sourcing solution to cover additional metals, including aluminum, antimony, copper, gallium, germanium, and nickel.
